Rapid weight loss

Rapid

The bicycle is a great invention. It is an extremely efficient method of transportation, even more so than walking. So why not harness that efficiency for other things? Like exercising at home. The geeks at MIT have a better idea; they converted an exercise bike to charge a battery, that generates more than enough power to run their notebook computer. As the bike's instructions note, if you have trouble "squeezing in that daily exercise," you can now "multitask with no problem--[you can] bike while you work!

@tarnoldnp As soon as you start actively tracking this data, you can't help but become more aware of your fitness.?

@tarnoldnp I also use it if I'm trying to hold a position like a plank for a certain amount of time.

@srosenr I find exercise boring and sadly, probably always will. I do whatever I can to make it more bearable.

@aknightns Good work..

@klawsonnt It starts to give them this appreciation for what we take for granted when we flip a light switch or use something that's just plugged into the wall. Increasing awareness is a nice thing that's come out of this project

My gym had similar machines. They had televisions built into the bike machines. So in order to watch it you had to keep pedaling at a certain speed (or higher). But I don't think they were self-powered.

@phansonnx I don't understand how you are going to benefit from using a balance charger if the batteries are already connected in series and parallel.

@phansonnx I'm just starting out learning alot of this stuff but I'm still a little confused about this technology

very smart, if you're not handy or don't have access to tools, buy a ready made shelf (home depot) to lay across the handles. from handle to handle mine measures 33 inches I bought a shelf that was 10x36 inches, used a small bungee cord and rapped the handle so the board did not slip or move, worked liked a charm.?

Amazing. Simply brilliant! thanks for sharing it!?

I don't see the need for technology to be involved with one of the most basic human activities. I'm under the belief that you should keep pushing yourself.

@jpattersono7 You might be suprised what some good tracking and a little analysis can push you beyond.

  • Reply

@jpattersono7 The point of technology is to be able to track more more easily and with more accuracy, all of which combines to allow you to push yourself more effectively

@atayloro9 I didn?t start losing toenails until I was doing 15+ mile long runs. And even then, it was rare once I realized I needed to be in a half size bigger shoe.

@atayloro9 I can't find anything as good or comprehensive either.

@cjacobsob I dropped twenty pounds FAST last year by tracking my food and exercise on Spark People. I got down to a size two, in preparation for a seven-week holiday.?

I didn't mean to be needlessly offensive, but in the discussion boards, a lot of people talk about relying on the Lord to meet their weight goals.
