One of the most dominant questions in our mind when we want to purchase an air conditioner is, how much area can this air conditioner cover? This question points not to what brand of air conditioner to buy, but rather what is the cooling capacity required. To understand the selection of air conditioner, we first have to know the definition of cooling capacity. Engineers now are looking into the concept of creating an aircon that displays the area of its coverage. Buy too small and it will struggle to keep the room at a comfortable temperature; buy too big and and the room will cool too quickly without removing enough humidity from the air.

I could have used an airconditioner LAST WEEK when it was 102 in my house.

@ablackqi Well, you never really have to touch the front of the AC so I think it would hold up pretty well. Mine still looks brand new!

@twellsqk I was more concerned about less than perfect air running over it for an extended period of time than I was about fingerprints.

@bbaileyqo well indoor rooms are often much lower relative humidity than outside air.

Don't all AC units cool air by condensing the moisture in air and stripping the air of moisture which carries the thermal energy??

@jrobinsonqr Most a/c units function by pressurizing some sort of gas, and then releasing that gas from high pressure back to low pressure.

@jrobinsonqr This change in pressure results in temperature change (high pressure to low creates cold, low pressure to high creates heat)

@ldunnr3 Heat in a room comes from many sources. From outside, heat comes through windows, roof, floor and walls. The more exposure to the heat source, the greater the heat load will be.
