Email forwarding

Email

It is complicated in the real world, you usually head over to the post office and fill out a change of address form and they do everything for you. But when you change your email address - things get equally surprisingly complicated. You have four, maybe five, email addresses. Keeping up with all of them can be exhausting; constantly opening separate windows and programs to monitor all your different inboxes. Now you can set up your primary email acount to forward your email to another email account when your inbox is full.

I have my e-mail automatically forwarded to my cell phone text messages, just in case the regular route through the mail app is on the fritz. Lets me know when I do need to check for something.

@bharrison9p Nice handy tool. If they can add ?Inbox by Google? and allow to add google voice number as ID?too then that would be awesome.

The biggest reason I haven't yet is because I've literally had one email since the late 90s. It's from Yahoo and I am tempted to switch, but then I remember that I have around 15 years worth of stuff to sort through. And I smile and think "yeah, I'll leave it alone and create a new main email instead"

@ecooper9x You don't have to make a new email address with yahoo. Click the settings cog on the top right, click settings, and from there you'll be able to add a new email to your account.

@wgomeza1 Does anyone have suggestions of how to set up email for my own domain without using Google Apps?

  • Reply

First things first, let's make sure you migrate your email address to one you'll actually use

  • Reply

@clittlea3 You can setup a custom domain email address on Microsoft too (similar to Google Apps).

  • Reply

@clittlea3 I just use a desktop/iOS app instead of my domain's crappy webmail interface. I'd love to hear others suggestions for better webmail.

I use my domain's webmail interface, but forward everything to Gmail. I configured an alias in Gmail to send emails using my domain email address.

You can use your own e-mail with an enhanced fastmail account.

Anyone know of an easy way to to merge calendars from an old Gmail account to a new one?

  • Reply

@gwagneraa It should be pretty easy?if you go to your calendar settings, you should be able to export each individual calendar (and then import them to your new account).

  • Reply

@gwagneraa I still use my old 'juvenile' gmail account for most stuff, but I made a more respectable one and linked the inboxes so that's the one I give out when asked for an email address..
